If You have not played Fantasy Thunder this page is for you! There are many strategies for playing the contest. As time goes on most Team Owners develop their own system. This information will help you get started. Please contact us anytime if you have questions. Best of luck this season!

1. The single most important aspect of the contest is to understand driver value changes. If your team is not going up in value each race it will be hard to be competitive down the stretch because you will lose buying power.

a)The first value change is for race 4. The values are based on finishing position from race 2. This means that when picking your team for race 3, the drivers you pick will be assigned values after the race that will show up for race 4.

b)If a driver finished poorly in race 2 and you pick this driver for race 3, he will definitely lose value for race 4. If a driver  had a good finish in race 2 and you pick this driver for race 3, he will definitely go up in value for race 4.

c)This pattern will follow for the entire season with race 17 values being based on results from race 15.

d)See the driver value formula page for details on each driver and how their values will change.

2. Be aware of where they are racing each week. There are big differences in how drivers finish at different tracks.

3.Do not be sentimental about your favorite driver (or any driver) and keep them if they are in a slump.  This is a easy trap to fall into for first time players.

4.How to calculate trades.

a)Add the current race dollar value for each driver you are dropping.

b)Add any balance that you had left over from the last race.

c)Subtract the current race dollar value for each driver you are adding.

d)As long as the combination of a and b are higher than c your trade is valid. (see example below)

Drop Earnhardt $2,050,000           Add Martin $2,175,000

            Jarrett    S2,200,000                   Gordon $2,150,000

            Saddler      $515,000                    Bickle      $450,000

Total Drops        $4,765,000          Total Adds    $4,775,000

Bank Balance       + $85,000

Tot. Trading Dol. $4,850,000

Total Trading Dollars $4,850,000

Less Total Adds         -- $4,775,000

Bank Balance for next race $75,000

*You do not have to worry about adding your total team value each race if the above method is used for trading purposes.

5.Most of all have fun! There will be some races when all the efforts to pick the best team become futile when 2 or 3 of your drivers are caught up in early wrecks. But remember what they say, "Thats Racing!" Besides, you get to drop your 5 lowest scores if you start in week 1. Each Team must have 12 races at the end of the season so late entries will have less than 5 drops.
