It has been brought to our attention that some did not get our email of 4-01-06 on proposed Grand Prize changes. Below is a copy of that email.
In our 2006 brochure, we advertised with a lump sum instead of specific Grand Prize awards for under 1000 teams. The idea was to let the players decide on how to split the Grand Prize fund. There have been many requests over the past 3 years to restructure how we award the top 10. With that in mind, the email below was sent after the sign up period was over.
We saw a post where the integrity of the contest will be compromised if we change. I would agree with that if we were reducing the prizes. However we are increasing the prizes just as we said we would. It is just a matter of how to allocate them. I would say we are improving the contest by giving you the right to decide.
I spoke with the 2005 Fall Champion, as well as several Past Champions. All of them said they would like to reduce the 1st Grand Prize and allocate more down the ladder.
One person who finished in 2nd said that he felt ripped off eventhough the prizes were clearly posted. Under the new structure in proposal 4 and 5, there are some nice runner up prizes.
We had 8 responses from the post we put on the welcome message yesterday in the Members Home area. All of them said to make the change now. We are ready if you are.
It does not matter to us. We award the same under all proposals. We are doing this because of player request to do so. For those of you who have been around for awhile, you know that we listen to your requests.
For those interested who have not voted, go ahead and do so. There was no time frame put on the vote. We had hoped to get a response from 200. We hit 201 last Saturday. A breakdown of the current vote is provided below the email of 4-01-06.

Good Morning,
Many team owners have asked us to come up with a different formula to divide the Grand Prize money. The feeling is that there is too wide of a gap from 1st to 2nd. Several owners have submitted changes that they would like to see.
We did not define a 1st Grand Prize for under 1000 teams in 2006. We wanted to have some flexibility to implement changes that team owners have been asking for.
Please look at the different formulas. They all add up to the same Grand Prize total. There are 5 proposals. The first one listed is the posted prize fund for 841 teams and is listed as such. It is a sample. We ended up with 848 teams.
Please review them and give us your feedback. We will make changes based on what we hear.

Which format do you like? In looking at the different breakdowns, it does seem like we can give some pretty nice runner up prizes if we lower the 1st Grand Prize.
Compare Proposal 5 to that of our large competitor. We have roughly 10% of the teams that they have. Other than the 1st Grand Prize, we are amazing close to them. In fact, once you get to 4th place, we offer more the rest of the way down through 85th place. Just think what we could do with over 8000 members!

# 4 and 5 are by far the choice of most. The breakdown is as follows...#1, 10 votes. #2, 8 votes. #3, 34 votes. #4, 57 votes. #5, 92 votes.
149 out ot 201 votes were for #4 and #5. That is huge support for the change! Do we do it now, or wait until the 2nd Half?

Message: In the 20 1/2 years I've been in business I've had a handfull of people question my honesty or say they feel ripped off. In those cases I give them back their money and tell them to go someplace else.
If I win money that's nice but that's not why I play. I don't care what the prize payout is.

But, I will say this.
I believe there should be a good size gap between First & Second.
First place is First Place and anything else is well,...not!
