Speedbump, since you brought up the North Pole, last night while waiting for 24 to come on I was thinking about the inconsistancy of recent discoveries involving the mass of the universe and it expansion. While running some numbers through my head I realized the visible matter in the universe and the unseen dark matter was enough to cause the expansion of the universe to slow down, stop and start contracting to the point where all matter would eventually combine into a single mass of unimaginable denseness resulting in another Big Bang and the creation of a new universe. However, recent discoveries indicate the expansion of the universe is actaully increasing which can mean only one thing, there is an unknown force at work. While pondering this problem I was also running some speed of light calculations through my head trying to find a way to make them work, which nobody has done so far, when I made a discovery that's bigger then Einstein'ss Theory of Relativity.

Gravity is not a "force" in general relativity, and a description in terms of speed and direction can be tricky. For weak fields, though, one can describe the theory in a sort of Newtonian language. In that case, one finds that the "force" in GR is not quite central--it does not point directly towards the source of the gravitational field--and that it depends on velocity as well as position. The net result is that the effect of propagation delay is almost exactly cancelled, and general relativity very nearly reproduces the Newtonian result.

This cancellation may seem less strange if one notes that a similar effect occurs in electromagnetism. If a charged particle is moving at a constant velocity, it exerts a force that points toward its present position, not its retarded position, even though electromagnetic interactions certainly move at the speed of light. Here, as in general relativity, subtleties in the nature of the interaction "conspire" to disguise the effect of propagation delay. It should be emphasized that in both electromagnetism and general relativity, this effect is not put in ad hoc but comes out of the equations. Also, the cancellation is nearly exact only for constant velocities. If a charged particle or a gravitating mass suddenly accelerates, the change in the electric or gravitational field propagates outward at the speed of light.

Well Speedbump, the idea of the massless photon has always bothered me. The photon is the only thing we know of that can travel at the speed of light (SOL) because it has no mass - nothing with mass can travel at the SOL. I'm thinking that what we think of as the photon is actually the propagation of the 5th force. There are currently four forces we know of; the force of gravity, the electromagnetic force, the strong nuclear force and the weak nuclear force. If my idea is correct we will have a 5th force which will be the biggest and most profound discovery ever in the history of mankind personkind and the understanding of which will enable personkind to travel at or beyond the SOL. I have named my theory the Domino Light Theory and I am calling this force the Kelly force. Oh, that reminds me, I have not done the Kelly Cup standings for Phoenix. I'll have to get back to this discovery later.

Good thought Slipry and nice to see I'm not alone in my thinking but John is a very minor force of no consequence in the equations. My Domino Light Theory may pull together the quest of many scientests over the past century; the finalization of the Unified Field Theory.

Unified field theory is sometimes called the Theory of Everything (TOE, for short): the long-sought means of tying together all known phenomena to explain the nature and behavior of all matter and energy in existence. In physics, a field refers to an area under the influence of some force, such as gravity or electricity, for example. A unified field theory would reconcile seemingly incompatible aspects of various field theories to create a single comprehensive set of equations. Such a theory could potentially unlock all the secrets of nature and make a myriad of wonders possible, including such benefits as time travel and an inexhaustible source of clean energy, among many others.

James Clerk Maxwell proposed the first field theory, for electromagnetism, in the middle of the 1800s. Early in the 20th century, Albert Einstein's general theory of relativity - dealing with gravitation - became the second field theory. The term unified field theory was coined by Einstein, who was attempting to prove that electromagnetism and gravity were different manifestations of a single fundamental field. When quantum theory entered the picture, the puzzle became more complex. The theory of relativity explains the nature and behavior of all phenomena on the macroscopic level (things that are visible to the naked eye); quantum theory explains the nature and behavior of all phenomena on the microscopic (atomic and subatomic) level. Perplexingly, however, the two theories are incompatible. Unconvinced that nature would prescribe totally different modes of behavior for phenomena that were simply scaled differently, Einstein sought a theory that would reconcile the two apparently irreconcilable theories that form the basis of modern physics.

Although electromagnetism and the strong and weak nuclear forces have long been explained by a single theory known as the standard model, gravitation does not fit into the equation. The current quest for a unified field theory (sometimes called the holy grail of physicists) is largely focused on superstring theory and, in particular, on an adaptation known as M-theory.

btw, if my Domino Light Theory is correct and I can breadboard some circuits together later today I'll be watching Sunday's Dega race tonight. If my theory is wrong but my experimental circuits work I could possibly disrupt the space-time continuum thus collapsing the universe but I estimate there's only a 50% chance of that happening so don't worry about it.

Does'nt matter what your salary is, Just see any of my Teams & then stay away from all Drivers I pick, I suck at this no matter what my cap is, Yet I know nothing about Pro Golf & I won a $5000 Cleveland golf club set, go figure! I did have 2 teams in Busch today in the top 20 (gets me nothing) (and advances me nowhere, since I can't do good on any "1" Team, I get a good score 1 week on 1 team, but can't seem to put together them high scores all on the same team)
I think the best I did all year was a P.O.F. 3rd place finish,lol.

No, responding to your original, and may I point out wrong prediction of the Cavs fate. Since you are a self proclaimed know it all about everything from Nascar to the NBA, I figured of everyone here you would be the one to congratulate the Cavs since a obviously superior sports being as yourself should have noticed how entertaining and closely played the series was, I guess I misjudged you. In my opinion, Lebron and Arenas going toe to toe was fun to watch and I think made for great tv.

Haven't really followed the NBA since the days of Daugherty,Price, Harper,Nance,Hot Rod, Ehlo & Kerr in the early 90's

Never even heard of Gilbert Arenas before this series...
Dude is an incredible Playa

Think the Cavs still need another Top Talent to go along with James before they will be a serious contender to win it all...

I lived in Chicago in 85,86 & 87...Jordans 2nd thru 4th seasons

The Bulls sucked in Michael's early years...as great as he was...it wasn't till they landed Pippen in Jordans 4th season that they became the Juggernaut that they were & won 6 NBA titles

Here's to hoping the Cav's land a great talent this off-season to go along with James & make them the NBA's next Dynasty

I totally agree, and as much as I would like to see the Cavs win it all, I doubt they will do very well against a team as well rounded as the Pistons are without another top notch player. I'm not a die hard NBA fan but watching KIng James has been entertaining and I'm glad to see Cleveland getting some good exposure for a change.

So we struggled with the Bulls a lil bit. Shaq didn't wanna play. The playoffs don't start till the Heat play the Pistons. That's when Shaq will show up to work every day. Dem Nets that are coming down here now will get all boozed up at South Beach and get run outta town before they know what hit em.

I'm not sure the Heat can stand the kitchen,
especially if Shaq isn't going to cook till they get to Motown.
I was just looking at the Heat/Net matchups from this season.

In Miami they split 1-1
Heat +1 in one game
Nets +7 the other

In New Jersey the Nets took both
Nets +13 in one game
Nets +12 the other

Either way the Pistons will be ready for whoever shows up
First things first though
Pistons take the Cavaliers and the Lebron James Gang in 5

Didn't get to see the race but, I'll have to admit the 808 was a little below my peojected score of 1280 for the night. Have to watch the tape to see what went WroNg! Anything below 900 usually is a throw away hope that holds true.

Well....Guess it's show time now.....8 to go this half...thats a loooong way!

I kinda like the view up here....think I'll try to stay UP there!..

Congrats Speedbump. Nice to have a real champion in the #1 spot. Hopefully I'll be up there doing battle with you before it's over. I've gained 11 spots the past two races, with bad scores, which is an average gain of 5.5 spots per race and I am now in 45th place. If I can gain 5.5 spots for the next 8 races I could move up 44 spots to 2nd. It would be helpfull to me if some of you folks up there had some bad scores so please help when you can.

don`t irratate yourself watching arch.....
with 55 laps to go ,i was in 1st and 11th overall with a 1112 going,,,then......r gordon ,runnin 14th blows a tire, and the two least likely to screw up ,mark and jeff b.....go into a closed pit...sure it was crew chief deal....but them flash`n red lights should a gave em a clue....and then there was the 17....o well,,,still hang`n and fight`n ...

Ya, Ken. I had the 6 and 31 on Drafters2 and was wondering why they didn't notice the light. Also had the 17 on that team plus the 9. Sure would have been nice if the 9 crew would have had him pull into the pit stall to put the plug wire back on instead of having him waste laps driving back to the garage.

Took you advice Tex.....didn't watch the race.
Tough to lose drivers late in the race...
Didn't happen last night but...
I hate those green....white....checkered finishes when you have drivers involved...

I did watch the highlights on speednews and wind tunnel...
or in my case lowlights for the last night....
looks like lots of WeiRd stuff happened!.
