  We've got Norton antivirus and when it goes to scan drive c it says it can't finish because another operating system or another process has access and connot continue repair. We downloaded spybot and it comes up with 5 DSO exploits which all have to do with Micrsoft wndows/current version/internet settings. It says it fixes them but everytime you run spybot again they are there. Also when we klook inthe windows folder you can't find these but do find all kinds of hotfixes which we have no explanation for. I did find though that it says these are security holes in the IE which could allow websites to execute code with out asking. Please helpp this is getting to deep for me. Anybody!!!!! Also all of a sudden now we have to turn off the norton to get on the internet and we never used to have to???????????????? help |

just a thought... try running a parasite scan and see what it says...

I run it weekly
if this doesnt show anything then i got no clue... not as good at this puter stuff as i used to be

Try using ad aware first.... Like spybot it gets rid of all those nasty little cookies ect. I have used a few different programs for spyware and this seems to be the best.... Just do a google search for ad aware... Good luck
ps. what version of NAV ? old or new ?

Ditch the SpyBot, does'nt run well with IE, Had same prob., only instead of NORTON I have McAfee

Yes, Round man's link, I just checked out, some good fixes on that link, also says about Spybot and IE, check it out, but before you change or get rid of any processes or programs..MAKE SURE YOU ARE IN "SAFE MODE"

I had a simalar problem when I got my 2004 norton.. would not start a scan on auto scan...said could not find local disc drive c... or some such thing... I had not ran my adware for some time so I did... problem went away....not computer smart at all and don't know what happened or why..

| I bought a new computer a couple of months ago that came with Norton. I've had no problems running the virus scan but after installing the firewall I started having problems and uninstalled the firewall. Discovered after that my ISP provides a firewall which has worked fine after installation. |

| Hey DDDDC.......let me know if any of this works. I have the same problem. Also have 2004 Norton. Norton has the problem so it won't go out to anyone else, but I can't keep it from showing back up on my computer!! More of a nusance that anything else. I don't have to disable Norton to access the internet, so my problem may be different than yours. It won't let me keep my original home page, installs a different one. Other than that everything works fine. |

| Michelle after using spybot,adware, bazooka and housecall narrrowed down the problems and lcated them within hidden files and deleted them manually. We've got that problem fixed now just the firewall log on problem and a ccouple other minoe ones. |
