LONG POND, Pa. -- You'd think this was Bristol, not Pocono.

A wild scene at the end of Sunday's Pocono 500 left Kevin Harvick and Matt Kenseth steamed at each other and in the NASCAR hauler for nearly an hour.

The fracas started just before the final caution of the day flew for blown engines by Dale Jarrett and Jeff Burton. Harvick passed Kenseth coming out of Turn 1, cutting across the nose of Kenseth's car.

Kenseth then used the front of his car to lift Harvick's back wheels off the ground and passed him again as the yellow came out.

While the race was under caution, Harvick spun Kenseth into the infield in Turn 3 on lap 197. Kenseth then returned the favor on the backstretch on the following lap.

After a lengthy meeting between the parties following the race in the NASCAR hauler, it was determined that both Kenseth and Harvick would be scored on the tail end of the lead lap. Thus, Harvick was scored 20th and Kenseth 21st.

Harvick had been scored 11th originally.

NASCAR president Mike Helton said Sunday that the sanctioning body will review the tapes of the incidents and that further penalites will be considered.

"It boils down to a frustration level between the 17 and the 29 that got played out on the racetrack, under caution, and that's something we frown on... greatly," Helton said.

Kenseth bristled past reporters after the meeting, choosing not to comment. Harvick, on the other hand, didn't stay silent.

"I don't know what his deal is," Harvick said of Kenseth. "I raced him clean and cleared him and he got up underneath me and tore my back bumper.

"Then under caution, he brake-checked me and spun himself out I don't know why he decided to try and wreck me.

"He needs to check his ego because it's getting too big."

Race winner Jimmie Johnson was oblivious to the incident until after his victory.

"When we were at Victory Lane, I heard about the fiasco," he said. "I look forward to seeing it on television."

lol Yeah, Kevin doesn't seem to have any attitude problems himself ! :) I personally didn't think they either one deserved to be penalized, fined, or put on probation. Sure, they did needless damage to the cars and made it unsafe for a restart. I don't know how old any of you are, but when I started watching racing, those type of revenge matches were common at nearly every race. It was exciting to see who was going to get even with someone who wronged them each week. It's one of the other traditions France and crew have changed.

What does he want them to do, Do it at 170 Miles an Hour?.
I didn't see all of the race.
Is there a controversy on Johnson winning, due to a caution?

The debris was thrown on the track because of the yellow finish but I don't think anyone could doubt Jimmie as the winner. He was an unstoppable force most of the day. I think the question came at the caution when he didn't wait for the pace car because of another screw up by NASCAR. I think the Harvick/Kenseth incident pretty much took away the focus on Jimmie though!

This is what I'm talking about with the Chase for the Championship. Nascar says the decision was made to create more excitement, i.e. more agressive driving. You can't have your cake and eat it too. If we're going to have the Chase, you're going to have drivers working their frustrations out on the track. The further down the season we go, the more we're gonna see it. Nascar has created a monster and now they can't control it.

As far as Jimmie the Johnson winning under caution, it's just as questionable as Gordon's win at Talladega. There easily could have been a fight for the win if they'd finished under green. It's not the way I'd want to win a race.

What happened TB is that NASCAR in the drivers meeting told the drivers that on a caution the pits would open the 2nd time the leader car comes by the pit entrance. So, they throw a caution, the pace car screws up picking up the field and then they open the pits after Johnson goes by the first time and everyone pits except Johnson and the 2 cars behind him.

I do hope they get all these new quirks worked out soon.....If they are still making all these Bonehead mistakes During the last 10 races (The Chase for the Championship they are trying to sell) I don't think I'll be able to stomach it.

Kenseth should of been penalized for the hit under caution. Harvik was as clean as the number 3 car ever was.

lol I got to agree on that one! That is what is missing from NASCAR right now. The excitement Dale Sr added to every race. Tony, Kevin, and a few others are aggressive drivers. I personally like that in them though. It tells me they want to win in the worst way.

Wonder if Ole D.W. will suggest parking either Havick or Kenseth!!!! I think D.W. has finally realized that the drivers go home and watch the races!! I did hear that when NBC starts thier coverage in a few weeks they were going to hire an extra announcer in the booth, Just to keep track of Mikeys every move like D.W. does.

lol I'm getting older, but will never mature if I don't have to.
I think Dale influenced NASCAR so much, that even they are falling apart without his guidance. It is like when they added restrictor plates at Daytona. Dale gave an interview leaving no doubt as to his dislike of it. He said in the interview that they just killed racing at Daytona and Bill France Sr would be rolling over in his grave. Of course, it didn't change their decision. But he wasn't afraid to go against them either. I think most of us are looking for the next driver that will stand up and say, "hey, enough is enough".

Of course! I'm an embarrassment to my kids. I love going to the amusement parks and riding the rides, having squirt gun and water balloon fights, snowball fights, go sledding and making snow angels and snowmen. Plus, I'm guilty of TPing some houses at halloween. I think cartoons are still the greatest thing on TV next to racing. So, guess I'm stuck being immature.
