Winston Results Official

The results of The Winston One Race Challenge are now official. The seven day waiting period ended on 5-24-03.
Von Ray Luther Jr. of Elizebeth TN is the official winner. Ray will take home the $2500 1st Grand Prize playing against 328 teams. Ray edged out Clair Rowin of Richland Center, WI by eight points.
All prizes will be put in the mail on Monday. Watch for details on the next one race challenge coming soon.

Von Ray Luther Jr. took advantage of his first time playing the contest. Von led the field of 328 teams with a score of 1218 and won the First Grand Prize of $2500.
Veteran Clair Rowin finished second with a score of 1210. Clair has been a member of the main contest for years.
Third and fourth place went to first time Team Owner's Dave Hernly of Selma, IN with a score of 1198, and Ronald Everett Spaugh Jr. of Parkville MD who posted an 1195.
In 5th position is our origional Champion of the main contest from the 98 season, Tom McCollough from Tulsa OK. Tom posted a score of 1192.
6th place went to Greg Barsuglia of Santa Rosa CA with a score of 1191. 7th place was taken by Scott Erickson of Dawson MN with 1186. Both are long time team owners.
Former Champion from the Second Half of the 1999 Season Jeff Hanson finished 8th with a score of 1183. Jeff won in the 1999 season missing the first two races of a 17 race contest!
Newcomer Kelly Vaughn of Shellburne Ontario was 9th with a score of 1182. Ronding out the top 10 is Jim Frederick of Mohnton PA who posted a score of 1179. Jim has been around since the 2000 season.

Scoring will be updated after each segment of The Winston. See how your team stands within minutes of the end of each segment.
The current standings of each driver on your team will be found in the Team History section. Your position against all teams will be found in the Winston Standings section.
Both of these areas can be found by going to the Member Login section and entering your user id and password. The links are at the top of the page.

Tie Breaker

The tie breaker will be the closest predicted points to the actual total. If a tie still exist's the prize fund will be split.
The most points a team can obtain is 1308. That would be 1st through 8th place along with lap leader and most laps led points.
The lowest point total is 740. That would be 40 points for a driver not making it to the main event, along with positions 18 through 24 and no lap leader points.

Joe's Win Changes Value

Joe Nemecheck will now be valued at $750,000 for The Winston One Race Event. Any driver who is in The Winston must be issued a value. Thus the reason for the change. All values are now final for the May 17th event.
All drivers who must earn a spot in The Winston by winning The Winston Open qualifying race, are valued at $400,000. If you select a driver and they do not make it to The Winston, you will receive 40 points.

Nadeau Update

Jerry Nadeau remained in critical and stable condition at Medical College of Virginia Hospital Saturday evening. Sources say that Nadeau is responding to stimuli, even in the coma medically induced to prevent swelling of the brain. "That's the most encouraging thing we've heard," said a Pontiac official who had spoken with #36 team officials. NASCAR vp/communications Jim Hunter read a statement from U.S. Army Racing, which said "Nadeau remains in critical condition. Nadeau continues to be treated for head, lung and rib injuries." Nadeau's car was impounded by NASCAR and reportedly was being held for examination in a maintenance building outside the track.

Jerry Nadeau remains in critical condition after the crash in practice Friday afternoon at Richmond. Not much detail has been released on the injuries as of this morning.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to his wife and family. We will keep you updated.

Nadeau Critically Injured

#01-Jerry Nadeau wrecked during the 2nd afternoon practice backing into the wall and hitting hard with the drivers side. Nadeau was airlifted to Medical College of Virginia. NASCAR has said the doctor reported there is a chance Nadeau has a serious injury. The team is preparing a backup car and supposedly Jason Keller will practice the car in Happy Hour.(FX's coverage of Happy Hour) Jerry Nadeau was cut from his #01 Pontiac after the accident in Friday's Winston Cup practice about 5:30 PM EDT. His condition was unknown as he was taken to the infield care center at Richmond International Raceway. Medical personnel placed a neck brace on the injured driver when he was removed from the car.
Update at 9:00 PM EDT during FX's coverage of the Busch Series race, reports that Nadeau is in critical condition and ungoing further tests. Nadeau's wife Jada has not arrived at the hospital. Jada Nadeau had been attending her grandfather's funeral in Spartanburg, SC, on Friday and was not at the track when the wreck happened just after 5:00pm/et. Severe thunderstorms in the Carolinas were hampering her attempts to reach Richmond.
