Earnhardt Jr Wins Shootout
2/9/2003 12:08:02 AM
The seventy lap shootout turned out to be just what it is called. A shootout! Dale Earnhardt Jr. started last in the 19 car field. He first led the race on lap 16. There were eight different leaders. With four laps to go Earnhardt Jr. took the lead and held on to beat Jeff Gordon and a hard charging Matt Kenseth who finished third.
The non points event is the annual kickoff event for the Winston Cup Division. If the action in the Shootout is any sign of things to come we are in for an exciting season.
The first points event of the 2003 Season will be the Daytona 500 on Feburary 16th. Fantasy Thunder will start our sixth season the same day.
