THE NEXTEL ALL-STAR ONE RACE EVENT WILL RUN MAY 22, 2004.
CONTEST RULES
All teams must be entered prior to the start of The Nextel Open. This is the qualifying race for all drivers who are not elegible for the main event.
The rules for selecting a team are the same as our main contest.
1)You have a bank balance of $10,000,000 to select your 8 drivers.
2)There must be 8 drivers on your team.
3)Points will be awarded based on finishing position, using the points system currently used by NASCAR. All drivers who are in The Main Event will receive points although all will not finish the event, due to the rules of the event. (see rules below) For example, only 20 drivers will advance to the second segment. The 3 who do not advance, will be issued points based on their finishing position in the first segment. The same rule will apply to the second segment.
4)In case of a tie you must predict how many points your team will score. The closest prediction to the final score will be the winner. It does not matter if the points predicted are higher or lower than the final score. The closest prediction to the actual score will be the winner. If a tie still exist's, the prize money will be split.
5)Only $20 per team. Increase your chances of winning. Get 3 teams for the low price of $49.95! See Prize breakdown in the Prizes and Winner's section.
What is the Nextel Open?
1)The Nextel Open is the qualifying race for any driver who did not have an automatic entry to The All-Star event. The race will be split into two segments. The first segment will be 20 laps. The top 14 drivers will advance to the final 10 lap segment. Only green flag laps will count in the final segment.
2)Only the winner of the final segment will advance from The Nextel Open to The Nextel All-Star main event.
3)This year we will have one value for all drivers in the Nextel Open. If you choose the "Open Winner Transfer" driver, whoever wins the Nextel Open will be your driver for the main event. The cost of this selection will be $750,000.
The Nextel All Star Event will consist of three segments for a total of 90 laps. The finishing position from this event is how all teams will be scored.
1)The first segment will consist of 40 laps. A ten minute break will follow. A mandatory pit stop is required where teams will be allowed allowed to work on their cars. The top 20 cars will advance to the second segment.
2)The second segment will consist of 30 laps. There will be another ten minute break. The top 14 cars will advance to the final segment.
3)The third segment will consist of 20 laps. The cars from position three to ten will be inverted following a random selection process to be determined at the break. All laps in the final segment will be green flag laps.
A sortable Driver Value list can be found in the Driver Values Section.
