The First Half will start with the Daytona 500 on February 15, 2004. The last race of the First Half will be on July 11, 2004 at Chicagoland Speedway. The Second Half will start on July 25, 2004 at New Hampshire, and end on November 21, 2003 at Homestead-Miami Speedway.
Each half will consist of 18 races. The top 14 scores will be kept for Grand Prize Totals. The object is to have the highest point total of all team owners.
Individual Grand Prizes will be awarded for both the First and Second Half.
Weekly Prizes are awarded after each race.
Optional Combined Season Scoring Contest will award season ending prizes based on the total kept scores of both the First and Second Half. (You must play in both the First and Second Half to be elegible for this part of the contest)
Prizes are awarded based on the number of teams entered.
Each team owner starts out with $10,000,000 in drafting dollars. Each owner must purchase 8 drivers without exceeding the $10,000,000 total. Left over dollars will be reserved for future races.
Points are scored based upon the Nextel Cup point system (see link above). Official scoring will be taken from the Nascar online site. On the day of the race, we take the unofficial results from Nascar online, and run the results so that we can have our results posted by 6 AM EST under normal circumstances. The first official results that are posted on Nascar online (usually the day after the race) will be our Official Results. Once these results are posted our results are final! If Nascar changes the offical results later for any reason, our results will NOT be changed.
After race 3, Driver Values will change every race. Values are established based upon the results of their finish positions from prior races. A high finishing position (high meaning close to 1st place) will increase a driver's value. A low finish will decrease a driver's value.
The first Driver Value change will occur after race 3. Week 4 Driver Values will be based upon results from race 2. Race 5 values on race 3. Race 6 values on race 4. The same pattern will follow for the entire season.
It is important to remember that after the first Driver Value changes are made (after race 3) that some teams will be worth more than $10,000,000 and others less.
Trades can be made anytime during the week up until the dropping of the green flag for each race.
Up to 3 drivers can be traded each week as long as you don't exceed your total team balance at the time. The system is set up to void bad trades. Should this happen, check your balance and enter new trades. Phone trades can be made if you are away from your computer at no charge. Voice mail service will also be available, but team owners are responsible for legal trades using this method. If one part of the trade is bad the whole trade is void.
You do not have to make any drivers changes if you are happy with your current team selections.
If you feel a scoring error has been made please call 1-800-571-2323 immediately.
Minimum prize fund will be 500 contestants. The amount of teams entered will be posted after each race. More contestants mean higher prizes!
Weekly Prizes will be mailed out seven days after race results are final. Grand Prizes will be mailed out 45 days after the last race of a challenge . The delay is to allow for a 30 day challenge period of the results. Our results have never been challenged.
Ties for weekly races will be split evenly between all tie scores. For the Grand Prizes, ties will be broken by looking at the drop scores for each team. The team owner with the highest drop score will be declared the winner. If all 4 drop scores result in a tie, the total team value will be the tie breaker. If a tie still exists, the prize money will be split.
Contingency Rules In the event that a race is cancelled and scheduled for a later date, the following rules will apply. (Such as the Pepsi 400 in 1998, when the fires near the track forced the cancellation of the race. The race was rescheduled for the fall of that year.) If a race is cancelled and not rescheduled, the seaon will be shortened by 1 race. The Weekly Prizes for the cancelled race will be doubled for the next race. 1) The next race in the schedule will be used for the cancelled race. (Example. If The Pepsi 400 were cancelled again and not rescheduled before the 1st Half was over, the 1st Half of the season would end with Race 1 of the 2nd Half. The Pepsi 400 would become a 2nd Half race, and fall into the 2nd Half schedule.) 2) Driver Values from the cancelled race, will be used for the next race. 3) Any trades made for the cancelled race could be voided by using your reset button. If you want to keep the drivers that you had selected for the cancelled race, nothing would have to be changed. With all of the problems with people trying to harm the internet with virus attacks, we feel it is necessary to put a plan in to effect should this happen for 2004. We have our own server, and a back up plan second to none should anything happen in our control. We have never been down on race day. As all sites, we do rely on "upsteam providers" who are the targets of the attacks. A huge nation wide bank, and many other large companies were down for more than a day last summer due to their "upstream providers" being down. Thus, our need to plan for such an event. Should we be down on race day, and not on-line within 1/2 hour of the scheduled drop of the green flag, the race will be thrown out. The season would be shortended by 1 race. The Weekly Prizes would be doubled for the next race. We must stress that we have never had a problem to this point in time. We just want to have a written rule in place should something happen in the future.
